unplug slow down reconnect

project 9 of 12

unplug slow down reconnect is a film festival focused on these three phrases and the benefits that could potentially result if individuals and society embraced them each as a way of life (or at least made space for these concepts). I created every element for the film festival, from concept to branding. Handrawn elements co-mingle with urban elements to show the intersection of these ideas with daily life.

The education component is a kit of parts for attendees of the festival. Inside the kit is a schedule of films being screened, along with a description of the festival. Also included is a postcard series featuring quotes and facts regarding how as a society we spend our time and money and the impact those habits are having on our planet.

Finally, a series of retail tags encourage participants to re-appropriate retail items with the hope that the message might reach an audience that might not normally interact with the festivals concepts. The leaf pattern serves to connect each of these components.

Inside the fold-out is the festival guide, postcards for disseminating the message of the festival, and retail tags with the Tibor Kalman quote, "Consumption is a treatable disease."
The retail tags are designed to be affixed to items and places outside the scope of the festival to get the concepts to a broader audience.
